Budget Laundry Room Makeover: The Before
As you can see, its a dark, dirty looking unorganized space. I hated being down there because it was so dark and dingy looking. There was no organization, so things were just put anywhere and laundry seemed to pile up all the time. (Probably because I hated going down there)
Two of the walls were unfinished and the floors were a hot mess. As you can see, the previous homeowner put the original cabinets from the kitchen down here for storage. Seems like a good idea, right? NOPE! They are an odd size and cannot fit things in them. The shelves were fixed so I couldn't even move them. It just felt like a lot of wasted space.
You cant tell from the picture, but there are peel and stick tiles on the floor. I tried to cover up the very ugly and dated 1940s asbestos ridden tile but it was a fail. The tile did not stick very well, and since my basement has flooded before, some of them pealed up.
Here is the TODO list:
- New Flooring
- Drywall on two walls
- Paint
- Organization
- Accessories.
I am going to save money were I can with this project. Hopefully It does not take long and looks pretty enough for me to actually want to do laundry.
